Allyson Felix

Allyson Michael Felix is an Los Angeles native born on the 18th November 1985. Felix's father Paul Felix is an ordained minister at Master's Seminary, Sun Valley. Her mother Marlean Felix is a teacher at Balboa Magnet Primary School. Felix's ability to compete in athletics was evident right from the day she started attending Los Angeles Baptist High School. Following her initial audition, she placed in the top two at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships for the 200 meters in a mere 10 weeks. In 2003 Felix was a senior in high school having signed a professional contract with the company that makes sports Adidas prior to matriculating at the University of Southern California where she was studying elementary education. The following year, Felix won the first Olympic medal during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Greece breaking a junior world record by taking 200 metres in 22.18 seconds. Felix was also the youngest to win the 200 meter at the World Championships held in Helsinki in the year 2005. She defended her title the following year, defeating the long-time Jamaican competitor Veronica Campbell. Felix was a frequent competitor in London, Beijing Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo. She always finished within the top three places of every event.
